Not Penny’s Boat

It’s Wednesday, and my friends from  Lost aren’t going to drop by for their weekly visit. I miss them already. They’ll be back this fall, I know, but tonight just won’t be the same.

Sounds pretty pitiful, huh. Nice. This week I’ve brought up my dependence on music, and now my addiction to a TV show. My kids will be so proud of their “Big Bad Dad.”

So without a fresh episode of Lost, how about a juicy conspiracy theory about the best show on television. (best show if you’re not counting Trick My Truck, The Real Deal, Flip This House: San Antonio, Best Week Ever, The Office or Project Runway) I… I… I have a problem.

I am out of words now.

I am out of words now.

high fidelity

I’ve been holdin’ out on this title, “ High Fidelity.” It’s just too good to waste on a lesser post. (as if this is Life-changing stuff that I write here … woo-hoo!) Never the less, I don’t want to disappoint you.

High Fidelity

This is not a short and sweet top five list like the ones that made the movie connect so deeply with its audience. However it is about music, which is a need as basic to human existence as food and love… and SNL.

waterworld

Really? Waterworld on Bravo?

This mofo is on TV waaaaaaaay too much. Why? What’s the deal? I blame Dances With Wolves. He earned too much rope to hang himself with a series of chum.

It’s not that I am out of them, it’s just that I am truly at a loss for words.

sex lives and videotape

J. Maarten Troost

On the road again…. More comments from the 24-hour round trip / road trip .Every so often I’ll take a chance on a book that I have absolutely no clue about, and I am usually glad about it. On the crazy return to Mecca, I really enjoyed listening to The Sex Lives of Cannibals: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific by J. Maarten Troos.

A little bit Lemony Snickett, and a little bit David Sedaris… How’s that for a cocktail?

If you have a vacation in your near future, and you need to people watch from 10,000 miles away, I give this a high recommendation.

Short and sweet, but I’m out of words now.

happy texas

Last weekend I went on a solo roadtrip to Kerrville, TX to celebrate my siter, Jessica’s, college graduation. For those of you trying to do the math, I’ll give you a hand. It’s a 12-hour drive from Little Rock to Kerrville.

(Happy Texas, it just makes my Texas heart happy)

(Sidebar – On the drive down, I got a call from work that we were announcing the acquisition of an Ad Agency in Dallas, and that we needed to add their contact information to our site. I pulled into a McDonald’s in Texarkana, whipped out the MacBook Pro, and made the change right there in front of a double-cheeseburger. wow. – end of Sidebar)
